Poppet in the Poppies

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited on my way to a photoshoot as I was for this one! As soon as I took the booking over the telephone, and heard the words “field of poppies” my mind was filled with glorious red fields, and I couldn’t wait to get shooting. When the day finally came around, I was thrilled to see a stunning blue roan pony, and Gabrielle looking so sweet with her loose, blonde hair and white, summery dress.

We were extremely lucky to be granted access to this land. It goes without saying that we wouldn’t normally go crashing across someone else’s fields, but the farmer was a friend of this family and kindly allowed us to use the location for our shoot. I think Poppet was initially a bit bemused when we led her out into the flowers, which were tall enough to brush her belly, but soon decided they made a nice snack and made it her mission to try to grab occasional mouthfuls.

Although we were hoping for sunshine, the stormy, grey clouds that rolled in actually provided quite an atmospheric backdrop, and picked out the lovely tones of Poppet’s coat.
